In the 1960s, Giovanni Bonacina started a small artisanal company specialized in the production of metal hardware and various items manufactured with cold-pressed metal sheet and steel wire processing.
In the following years, the company began producing metal wheels for baby prams and children’s bicycles. Later, in response to customers’ demand, some models of plastic wheels for bicycles were introduced into the products range, by establishing some collaborations with some local plastic moulding companies.
In 1972, the company became Bonacina srl, and a second building was set up to accommodate plastic moulding machines. It was during this time that Bonacina began producing models of plastic wheels on its own.
Over the following years, the company expanded its facilities and currently occupies an area of approximately 5,000 square meters. Today, the company has eccentric presses ranging from 60 to 200 tons for shearing and deep drawing of metal strips and sheets, as well as injection moulding machines ranging from 6 to 580 tons for plastic materials. Additionally, we have CNC machining centres, milling machines, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines for our moulds construction Department. Currently we produce wheels for bicycles, baby prams, lawnmowers, and other custom-made items manufactured upon customers’ request both in steel and plastic. The company designs and manufactures tooling and moulds using CAD/CAM software.
